Poppies on the Stanislaus
« on: March 26, 2014, 12:38:47 pm »

I've been struck with the urge to photograph wildflowers lately, and have been constantly checking the internet for the latest wildflower reports.  I heard that there was a great wildflower bloom occurring in the Knight's Ferry Recreation Area, but didn't know where that was, so had to look it up.  Knight's Ferry is a small historic town on the shores of the Stanislaus River, about a two hours drive due east from the Bay Area.  The recreation area has trails that follow shores of the Stanislaus upstream, in the Goodwin Canyon direction.  What a beautiful area!  This is my first time exploring the Stanislaus, and I must say I was taken aback by its beauty.  The dominant flowers during my visit were poppies and lupine, with many others sprinkled in to lesser degrees.

Nice composition. I wonder if some selective processing would help bring out the surrounding lines.
