Most random generators seed the random order when first requested, but do not seed again until requested again. Example if you hit shuffle in iTunes, the songs will be shuffled, but that order is set until you turn shuffle off, then back on which then creates a new order. The reason most do this is the back and forward functions still make sense.
I've never tested LR, but logic would be they would seed the order when the slideshow is started, but wouldn't do it after playing through the slides one time if it set to loop, only when the show ends or is stopped and restarted. Not sure if any alternative would work because most software seems to follow this logic, but maybe someone out there knows of something.
I'm trying to think if there could be any work around using collections and virtual copies, but I don't think that would work.
