I'm trying to set up a slide show in Lightroom that loops, and for which there is a new random order of slides within each iteration.  (I don't want the same sequences to repeat.)

Is there a way to do this in Lightroom?  Or, is there another slideshow program that I should be using?

[ex, with images a b c d:  a c b d  d c a b  b a d c  a d b c  d c b a  c b a d  a b c d  d b a c . . .]

There's a random order option in the playback section.

Most random generators seed  the random order when first requested, but do not seed again until requested again.  Example if you hit shuffle in iTunes, the songs will be shuffled, but that order is set until you turn shuffle off, then back on which then creates a new order.  The reason most do this is the back and forward functions still make sense.

I've never tested LR, but logic would be they would seed the order when the slideshow is started, but wouldn't do it after playing through the slides one time if it set to loop, only when the show ends or is stopped and restarted.  Not sure if any alternative would work because most software seems to follow this logic, but maybe someone out there knows of something.

I'm trying to think if there could be any work around using collections and virtual copies, but I don't think that would work.

Depending on the end use of your show you might want to consider the LRDisplay screensaver (www.lrdisplay.com).  There is a random shuffle option for this and you can do captions etc as well.  Only works on your Lightroom computer though as it is driven from your catalogue, not something you can take away and give to someone else.
