A set of the new 3 gen targets and ruler should arrive sometime this week. I'll do some comparisons and see what the difference is.

This will be  seem obvious to many of you, but if you use imperial measurements  instead of the metric system , to find out how far the 25x distance for shooting the target, rather than do  the 25 * FL (in mm) and then converting the result to inches, you'll get close enough by remembering that 25.4mm = 1 inch so use the  focal length as your distance in inches.

In other words, instead of calculating 50mm x 25 = 1,250mm and then dividing 1,250/25.4 to get 49.213 (I am rounding) inches, use 50 inches as your sensor plane to target distance

Let us know. I haven't found the time to check out the new v3 software... I understand that to get the most of it, you should have v3 targets?

Not necessarily. I am running trials right now , witha Nikon D4s and 50mm f/1.4G lens with  the updated software and these three  target and ruler configurations"
- Mark II target and ruler
- Gen 3 target + mark II ruler
- Gen 3 target and ruler combinations.

My understanding is that the purpose of the Gen 3 target and also  the Gen 3 ruler is to make it easier on the AF system and for FocusTune  to do various functions.  I like the LensAlign and FocusTune combination and find it very reliable but the documentation right now could be written more clearly.

Ellis,
I look forward to your results. I've been using LensAlign from its first days and was always satisfied with it. FocusTune was a big timesaver, a real improvement.
