Great Prices on Canon iPF Printers
« on: March 21, 2014, 11:38:03 pm »

I just noticed that the iPFX400 printers are going at bargain basement prices again.  Got a quote of $3600 for iPF8400, $2175 for iPF6400 from one seller, but I imagine that a number of sellers are in the same ballpark.   I am not going to include the seller name here since I don't think it is right to advertise for a specific seller.  If you can't get a similar quote from your whoever you patronize, send me a PM and I will send you the link.  The quoted price is lower than the price on their web site by a significant amount.  Part of a Canon sale until March 31. I'm considering getting the 8400 myself.

PS Seller is a recognized name that has been in business for some time.  I have no affiliation with them other than the fact that I bought my iPF5100 from them about 5 years ago.  They don't know I am posting this, and I am not getting any remuneration from them.  Just thought others would want to know about this as prices were significantly higher a month or two ago.

$9500 over here, for the 8400. $6500 or so for the 6400.

You're lucky over there in North America (and, to a lesser extent, Europe and Asia). Anyone can afford a wide-format printer, even if you're only printing small volumes.

Here, only print shops can really justify the expense.

Similar prices in EU. I don't think you can buy iPF8400 in the price of ink it comes with anywhere outside US.

Want to know what a really high price is like? Last month I bought a IPF8400 here in Brazil at a really low price (for our price standards). Guess how much I paid? Based on today exchange rate it would be something around US$18000 or so.
Absurd, I know, but that is a real bargain down here. Espon´s 9900 is something like US$ 21000 just for comparison.

Edit: wrong prices due to low caffeine on the blood, correct values posted below.

It's around £4000 in the UK; a friend there also bought an Epson 9900 for around the same price there.

Epson printers are also cheap in Indonesia, because that's where they make them. Unless you go there and buy in person, though, you're likely to get scammed...

Damn!  I hope your print sales are 5x ours.

2 yrs. ago I purchased an IPF8300 from Lexjet for $3495.00 minus $500.00 Canon rebate (paid within 30 days), plus Lexjet had a free IPAD with purchase (quickly sold it for $475.00) minus $175.00 or so from tax deductions ............. Overall cost around $2350 and it paid its keep in the first 45 days.  It's a great printer.

I remember when it cost me $1800.00 for the Epson 4000 17" with their paltry 110ml starter carts.  That printer only lasted a little over a year before a head temp sensor failed and the cost to repair was near the cost of the printer.

I completely screwed the math on the last post! I Was waking up and drinking my coffee while reading the posts. later, when the caffeine did her job, I realized that it was way above the reality.  :D
The actual prices we paid for the IPF 8400 is US$10500.00 and the Epson 9900 is arond US$12000.00 here in Brazil.

The print selling price here is higher as well, but not on the same proportion of the printers, papers and inks. In the end we have to work with a smaller margin of profit, but still doable and the volume of service is good.

I'm in the market also for a Canon printer, wondering where you found such good prices. Thanks.

My take has been to forego extended printer warranties, put the money in the bank, and wait around for sales like these as my printers pass the 2+ year mark.

My only problem with that now is that my present 3+ year old 8300 is working so good that I can't talk myself into going through the whole drag-it-in and set-it-up procedure, coupled with the slight possibility that a new printer might have some issue.  So I will doubtless get stuck with some down time in the near future.  No matter, I'm just gonna live for the day.

Usually the best time for printer fire-sales is in December, although the sales were less dramatic in 2013 than they had been in previous years.

B&H has the IPF 6400 with 90ml starter carts for $1999.00 but the IPF 8400 was still $4700.  If there is a link to this "8400 for $1999", I sure would like to know it.
