White Pocket II
« on: March 10, 2014, 03:42:10 am »

Image from trip to White Pocket last September. I need some suggestions to make this image look better. Taken at sunset...I made the foreground almost a full stop brighter and I'm not quite sure if I made the right processing decision.

Very strong leading lines, and good sunset colours, I like it.

Wow! Spectacular.  Step away from the image.  You're done. Well done.

Very nice! I might try darkening the distant gray mountains just a little.

Has a very Thomas Hart Benton look to it, especially in the sky.

Great portrait landscape. I agree - strong lines in this composition.

Pretty amazing.  Nice composition.  There is something special in the light that I can't put my finger on.

I don't see many ways - if at all - to make it better.
You might have wanted a little more space to the left and right and a less dynamic format,
but you can't crop away anything without unbalancing the image.
Of course you could play with it in Photoshop like stretching it a little bit wider, just for fun ... - but this leads into an endless rabbithole ...

I'd leave it like it is and be happy with it.

Cheers

Thank you for the comments, kind words and suggestions. I think I know what I'm going to do to the image. It won't be very noticeable but I think it will make a difference to the overall feel of the image.

I was considering that. I'll play with the image a bit more and see what happens. Thanks.

I was actually considering warping the image a bit but I might get carried away and end up creating an entirely different image. I'll make some very minor adjustments to this image and be done with it :)

Thanks for the suggestion :)

It'sa pity :'(, but the wonderful :o sky must be brightened (and the distant mountains a bit darkened).

Foreground, yes. Clouds, too dramatic, I'd soften them up.

I can't speak to your decisions other than by commenting that your image is dramatic, interesting, and borderline spectacular.. wouldn't change a think except perhaps to use landscape mode.. at least the scene makes me want to see landscape mode.

The only thing I would improve about it is the haloing around the mountains.  There's a visible glow from them into the sky.  Other than that, I love it!
