Strange goings on Epson 9700
« on: March 07, 2014, 05:56:16 pm »

Those of you that read my last post will know what a nightmare I have had with my 9700 from the week I brought it.

The problem that I thought was fixed is still hanging around although a little different from the beginning which no one thought.

It will print A4, A3 fine all day long go up to A2 and it print two bands down the side of the image of the image out of the print area.

So its messing everything over A3 up. Its Like a cyan and magenta stripe.

Any ideas ??

Thanks in advance

Media imperfections, poor media feeding, vacuum issue (anything blocking the holes?) some detritus under the paper path?

Have you tried different media?  Have you tried different platen gap settings?

I have seen your prints from the other post. That type of ghosting may appear if the print head is very far away from the paper. Like more than 3 mm distance from the paper. Please check the gap, or try to set it manually. Maybe for the first few cm of your prints the paper it is still curled and the gap is smaller. Then, the paper gets plane, the gap gets wider and there is the ghosting.

In this thread I don't see any images.

As far as I can see in post

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=86940.0

You have another ghosting less pronounced on the top of the image, and a more evident one on the bottom of the image.

This make me think is is the platen gap too big.

DoomBrain

"wow, thats a good one. looks like a short on the FFCs to me."

What is the FFCs???

Isn't it just a good one & its driving me mad actually insane

Gap is fine and has been changed to every setting possible. However no its not doing it on the image being printed so much its just on the right hand side.

Head alignment print out was very strange but actually corrected itself and printed perfect for one print, then went back to this.......

Auto head cleaning keeps failing. nozzle check is perfect. (Shocking for one of these i know). I am thinking of replacing the cleaning assy ???? Maybe ........

Do i throw more money at it ..... Do i have a choice .....

In saying that i actually like working on this machine kinda taken on as a challenge

Thanks for all your input
