Anyone else having problems purchasing at Adobe?
« on: March 06, 2014, 10:20:04 am »

My sister wants to learn Photoshop Elements 12.  I wanted to purchase and install PSE 12 on my mac as well in order to give her some pointers.

But I can't seem to make my purchase.  I log into the Adobe site, it recognizes and greets me by name.  I make my selection, navigate to the shopping cart, see my choice and try to complete my purchase.  But when clicking "check out" (or the German equivalent), nothing happens!  I recall the same complications when purchasing LR5 but can't remember what I finally did to complete my purchase.  I've tried the US site as well as the German site - since I live in Germany, I'll be routed to Adobe's local site when paying.  Same behavior at both Adobe locations.

Then I tried to download PSE 12 for a trial period to purchase it when the trial ends.  I download the Installation Manager but can't install it - I keep getting error messages.  And the FAQs don't help since nobody else seems to have such problems.  I'm running the latest version of Mavericks but don't believe my problems stem from the operating system.  I had similar problems when LR5 was issued and Mavericks wasn't on the market yet then.  can't remember how I finally did make my LR5 purchase.

Has anyone else encountered similar problems purchasing Adobe software and, if so, how did you finally make your purchase?  I may have to go down town and buy PSE 12 in a store - but I fear I'm only getting a serial number and will need to download the software from the Adobe site - then I'll be in the same predicament.

MS Vista SP2, Adobe Download Assistant downloaded with Firefox and installed. Starts and asks for Adobe ID to continue download of Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Trial.

Isaac, your mention of Firefox reminded me, that I had to install that browser to make my purchase of LR5 in the past.  I repeated the process now for PSE 12 and everything worked fine.  I don't know what the problems could be using Safari - maybe it's because I have Ghostery activated.  I'm no IT specialist.  Maybe I should have tried making my purchase with Ghostery deactivated.

Any, your reply tipped me off towards a successful path.  Thanks, Isaac!
