One Calm Tree
« on: March 05, 2014, 05:20:51 pm »

Got a call 4pm Thursday, friend in need, at the airport forgot his drivers licence. Thus a 5 day roadtrip with me as the driver, 2000kms, very little sleep. Ended at lake Wanaka during a sublime calm morning.

100 second exposure,f10, ISO 200,  5dmkII, 17-40L, lee big stopper and .9 grad.

Fantastic shot! One small suggestion, the lower tree branches I would like to see them against the sky or water.

Good suggestion. Would have to see next time how much reflection that drops out.

I'd drive five days for that shot without a second thought.

This is just spectacular. And I wouldn't be concerned about the branches stuck between the sky and the water. In this digital age, these kind of natural inconsistencies remind us that it's a photograph, not a painting.

Excellent.

I know this is me being a complete pedant, but I would be tempted to stretch/warp the left hand side top outwards to straighten up the trees on the left a little, so they line up vertically with their reflections, created by the wide angle lens pointing downwards slightly.

But I suppose only I would notice that, so probably best to leave well alone and just enjoy this wonderful image.. ;)

Bravo!

No, no, you are totally wrong ... the image just needs an alien spaceship to be perfect.
