Horse & Rider #3
« on: March 03, 2014, 09:53:29 pm »

This photo is right in my appreciation wheelhouse. It's a lovely example of how cameras & lenses can see things differently than we can. IMO photos that do this are more interesting & compelling than those that simply mimic our visual perception. Good job, Mr R.

Agreed.  This picture shows us motion, and our minds easily fill in the rest.  And besides, it's just lovely to look at.

Francisco, do you think this means we might both be photo junkies? Hey, let's, obviously, include Michael in there!

I don't see your picture???   Just got a new computer.  Maybe my settings are off but I do see avatars.  Suggestions?

It's Michael's cover shot to which we refer...

Another good example of how smaller formats can produce more interesting imagery than pixel perfect uber expensive dbacks. Congrats

Michael,

The more I look at this photo, the more drawn to it I become.  Any chance of a print run?

Why, did you want to shoot it at a 1/5th of a second?

Just jokin' (not Just Jaeckin - that's another 60s hero of mine).

;-)

P.S. Just looked him up: all that wiki reveals is his film stuff; that wasn't what he used to be about at the time: he did great fashion in British Vogue.

It's part of an incredible series of impressionistic images taken recently at a a bull fight. But the last time I posted a bull fight image here, about 10 years ago, I received countless aggressive emails from the anti-bullfight crowd, and so I am likely not going to publish them here, or do an article, which I had considered, on how to do this type of shooting.

To many crazies out there.

Michael

Ps...Note to crazies. I personally hate bull fighting. But I find photographing them to be fascinating. I also recognize that it's an intrinsic part of Mexican culture, which neither I nor anyone from outside the country will likely ever change.

I like it! I wouldn't have thought "bull fight", I thought "polo" or "barrel race" at first. I take it that this is the picador.

I thought polo at first too, but the boots aren't right for polo.  It's a beautiful image.  Maybe you go shoot a series at a polo match to avoid the bullfight crazies.
