Hi Gloss printing INKPRESS METALLIC GLOSS on Epson 99000
« on: February 28, 2014, 10:43:31 am »

We have a request to make 30x40 prints and the customer is specifying Hi-Gloss.

Anyone tried "INKPRESS METALLIC GLOSS" in a 9900? or anything similar?

TIA

The only metallic I have tried on the 9900, is the Breathing Color Vibrance Metallic.  This is RC based.

Very nice look to the prints, however the substrate of the surface seems to trap fine dust particles into the print.  They show up worse in large dark areas.  Tried a few different things i.e. slowed down passes, etc. but still get them.

So that paper is not a good solution for your 30 x 40.  The only other metallic I am considering right now is the Moab slick rock, waiting on a sample pack.

there are many threads regarding metallic printing in this forum.  You may want to do a search.

Personally the only satisfactory metallic look I have seen is printed on Kodak Endura Metallic paper.  Aluminum prints can look somewhat similar, but still do not have a true metallic look.  Can’t really beat their gloss however.

But the Moab isn’t bad.
