For me, the composition gets tangled up with the white matte.

Sorry -- when I send work to galleries -- it always has the matte around the image ...

I worry about the windows.  They seem sad or worse, though the facade and tree are graceful enough.

I thought every thing lined up pretty well -- A fixed ~ 150mm lens ~ from the middle of the street... Just geo shapes -- not sure if I even thought of them as windows :-)

I actually like the mat - it extends the separation between the upper and lower windows and gives a sense of a white wall.

Thanks -- when I submit images -- I always place a mat around  the image -- when it is delivered to a gallery >> that's the presentation...

Yes, making the mat part of the image seems the better choice.  A beveled overlapping mat, however will show its interior edge and not integrate as fully as the one on the screen.

I'm not bothered at all by the matte and I like the two windows -  two shapes concept.

I love your photo! It's just the sort of thing that would catch my eye, although I probably would not have executed it so well. Lovely tonalities. I might consider a slight crop at the top to remove the dark horizontal line.

I guess I dissect each image vertically and horizontally> when framing my image  ... I can completely remove the top half of the image because of the thin black line.... there are four strong horizontal lines.
