Storm Brewing

I haven't had much time lately but I managed to get out last week between storms to catch the first signs of the next one coming through.
As always, comments, ideas welcome.

Sharp, dramatic, lovely.
I would be curious to see it in colour. And might it be stronger without the stream? (Of course then it wouldn't be a Hurly).

Asking for suggestions:
I'd not hesitate to got for a more extreme toning:
Black high contrast sky, very light, glaring snow and so on.
I'd heavily rely on local fine tuning after the global adjustment.
Cheers

I love the clouds, but I feel like my eye needs to compete between the sky and the open lead at the bottom of the frame.

Good B&W, with plenty to look at. I do feel like I am lacking a bit more of the stream in the bottom, a bit more closure there in the framing.

Lovely image. I think the snow between the mountain and river is to grey. Also the cloud on left side with the trees in front bothers me.

Thanks much to everyone for your comments. I think nearly everything that was mentioned were concerns of mine as well. I had already marked this one as a near-miss with respect to the competing elements of the composition and it is nice to know that what was bothering me is the same things that bothered others. That's valuable feedback to me.
Chris - there is actually quite a bit of local work done on this. I tend to have a lighter hand than you. Not saying that it's better but it is a stylistic choice. IMO there is a pretty fine line into overdone.
I've included the color version for those that are interested.

Pretty in colour; dramatic in b&w. I think you can afford to be a little more adventurous with the conversion, though, as others have suggested.

Thanks Jeremy. I'll have a go at being a bit bolder on the conversion.
