Backing board questions
« on: February 06, 2014, 05:33:51 pm »

I am waiting on panels of Gatorfoam that I will glue canvas prints to, using miracle muck
I am also making a couple of frames for the prints.

How big can I go with the canvas on the gatorfoam WITHOUT backing board?

What are your choices of materials for inexpensive backing board material?

Its your choice of materials depending on the size of the print to be backed?

Will you choose different backing for a paper print on matt or a canvas print on gatorfoam?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean by backing board?

I regularly mount up to 24 x 36's on 1/4 gator and then 30 x 45, 40 x 60 and 36 x 72 on 1/2 inch  Never back it.  Just put it in a frame with a deep enough rabbet to handle the gator/canvas.  I will cover the back of the frame with paper, but not the gator.  I never show/sell gator canvas unless it's framed.
