Thanks ...Not sure how much conversion was used ...This was taken in 1979 === just the digital conversion...with the scanner .

Truly expert mastery of the exposure and development.  You did not say which film and developer combo it was.  I have always relied on Diafine to control this sort of range.  In fact, I rely on Diafine for many things.
