Color & BW, either, neither? Original was an Kodachrome slide, scanned to digital.

I would go with the B&W version. I don't particularly like the colors and I don't think that they add value over the B&W image. But it's just a personal preference…

They're very different. The colour version is warm and relaxing; the b&w is very harsh, I suspect because you've boosted the contrast a great deal, rather more than I find pleasing.
Of course, if I were the person about to be hanged...
