Only the Onion could come up with something like this.  Place tongue firmly in cheek before reading.

If you're feeling stressed out over the fact that you've gone beyond puberty and you still have a creative side, don't blame your parents!  Go and build something with virtual Lego instead: http://www.buildwithchrome.com/

In fifth grade an "art" session consisted of drawing overlapping red, green, and glue triangles in various combinations.  I drew a flying saucer instead, and was publicly reprimanded.  That still affects my feelings toward color management.

Bill,

Do you do most of your post-processing in AdobeRG1G2? (The second G is for Glue). Maybe the fifth grade "art" session would have been easier if they used Blue instead of Glue.   ;D

I suspect many of us active on the LuLa forum had childhood experiences like the ones being promoted in the Onion piece.

red, green, glue

As you can see, my artistic bent came at the expense of typing class!  Trust me, that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Art didn't count for much in my childhood education, we were mainly being trained to sit obediently in rank and file while enduring crushing boredom.  Even today, that seems to be the goal in too many schools.  Damn, I wanted to go and do the cool stuff those adults got to do, like making movies and such!  Screw sentence parsing!

Drifting OT, back in the 90's I was a de facto computer guru.  I got a phone call from the father of two very bright and talented daughters.  We was deeply concerned that his girls were leaning toward the arts, instead of staying on his designated road to business school.  He wanted to buy computers for them, and my job was to recommend computers that could not possibly be used for any artistic endeavor beyond spreadsheets.  I countered that computers did not come without risks, and often changed the direction of people's lives, as in my case.  Couldn't find a trace of those kids on Google, wonder what happened?

I bet those kids grew up, changed their names, and made it big, perhaps by making video ads, like the one for "Fotoshop, by Adobé."
