Producers have been doing that since day one! "I didn't actually take any of these pictures, but if you hire me I will create work exactly like this for you! Photography is about taste and interpretation, the nuts and bolts of actual production are secondary and will be handled by technical people I will bring with me onto the job. Perhaps I will hire some of the poor guys who actually took those pictures."
Isn't the internet wonderful? You can define your photographic aesthetic without having to stoop to mere mechanical picture taking! How liberating is that?
