Stick: it's straight, except for the usual Curves and some toning.
How can you call it "straight?" I see a definite bend in it, part way up.    :D

Sucked Into a Whirlpool of Color - just having fun.
Alain and Andrew are really getting to you, aren't they?

That really is a "fun" shot.

Thanks for the comments! You know, Eric, they really have. My mother made her living (not much of one, but it was a living) as an oil painter; shows on the lawns of Golden Gate Park (SF) and the strip malls and boardwalks of California, gallery shows and even her own for awhile, and of course our small living room was her studio. She started with a blank canvas or masonite, which I had helped prepare. and something she saw inside her mind, often somewhat abstract (impressionistic?), often vivid colors and most often land and sea scapes. She created over a thousand pieces in her ~40 year career. Contrast that with my 40 years in science, living within a pretty strict set of rules, and now reaching for what I feel with an image is much different than expressing what I think with words. I know there is a bunch of similar folks here on the forum. Anyway, yes, Alain and Andrew did "get to me" and something, too, that Rob has said numerous times about being born with creativity (forgive the paraphrase Rob); it is buried so deep, but I sense something "there" and perhaps "coloring outside the lines" is a way to reach for it. Discovering it does not necessarily guarantee success, but if I am satisfied with the effort, well then, that is where what Andrew said resonated.

I know this thread is really not the place for a comment like this, but wanted to keep in context some of the things I learn here in this very special place.

Keep it up, this fine whirlpool of colour is only a beginning. You will be surprised by what you can create or express if you are in a playful mood. Never before have we had the ability to photograph and have almost instant feedback.

Another one in the realm of color collages.

A stained glass window that exists only in your mind?
Neat!

Not stained, the glass is clear. But yes, the color exists only in my mind. (I will allow for the possible external existence of electromagnetic rays of varying wavelengths traversing the glass.)

"Negatory, good buddy." (Is that copyrighted somewhere?)

But I did spend some time on a tea plantation there; entertainment was shootuing birds (as in feathers) with an air gun and peeling them to get skins, which then got dried and collected. Delightfully, artistically barbaric. (What is art?) Today, it shames me, so this is obviuosly cathartic confession time. I never told my wife, not that she knew me at that age, of course; she lived in Scotland. I wonder if she knew I was on my way?

;-(

I like it too.
The title? Rob's just showing off that he knows Latin (or is it Greek? Farsi? Sanskrit?)

When I try to translate it literally, it comes out to something like "staying green". ???

You're very close!

But why ruin a funny story by telling the punchline first?

Such mysterious images Rob creates, somewhat dark, but always interesting.

My leaves, somewhat inspired by Rob, are bidding goodby - but only for the season.
