Time for some holiday abstracts, and here's mine "Chardflake Blizzard", which also serves as the artwork for this year's greeting card from yours truly. Just in case you wondered how abstract it gets. ;)

Happy Holidays!

Went on outing to City Hall Square in Toronto to capture the lights. Went in to warm up and this is what I found.

Ah, Toronto. Less straight-laced and more curvy than one might imagine. Here are some older examples from University College and Convocation Hall (U of T) respectively.

Pretty good images John B. I was going to ask if you could get me into Convocation Hall until I realized these are old images. I am going to have to give them a call to see if they will allow a group of people in.

So while I was inside photographing the stairs seen here...

ET landed in the square with his new spaceship and I managed to get one shot before he took off.

Did you at least get ET's autograph?

Sitting on the far East Coast, I always thought this sort of thing was the norm for Toronto.

Chuck, you may be right. However, I do think ET was just out of this world with the design of his ship. Now look at John B's image. It's a nasty looking alien, the kind that Sigourney Weaver tried to destroy. But effective. Eric, I did one better than an autograph- I got Canada in his good books. Can you see his antennae lighting up all the way to the top? That means he is delighted to be part of the Toronto Festival of lights.

Which reminds me, one night I was out and about in downtown Toronto, just going for a walk. I saw a small red light in the sky moving to and fro. Like it was dancing in the sky. I watched it for about ten minutes to see if I could determine what it was. I looked to see if anyone else noticed. No one around to discuss the light in the sky. What could it be? So I started to walk toward the light and was getting kind of nervous as the light sometimes seemed to be heading in my direction. After about half hour walking I ended up at a boarded construction site. I saw a crane and my eyes followed its neck up towards the red light in the sky. I was relieved. Phew, that was close! I didn't have to go home and tell people I saw a red light in the sky.

John R, that second shot of the lights really works (better than the first, for me). Steven B – good eye! I know the abstract expressionists aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I can't help seeing such images in my 'walkabouts'.

I better take something to calm myself down.

Now I know how it could feel to be thirty and stranded on a desert island; one could see them everywhere!
