On the beach.
The tonality is sumptuous. Very effective and organic looking.

You've got a good eye, John, even when you don't wiggle your camera/phone around.  ;)

Just want to expand on what I said about the "Bold Monochrome" experiments. Notice how where darks and blacks already exist things quite quickly turn blacker. Whites almost pure. For some subjects, this will work. But for most, the extremes look unreal and unusable for reasonably natural images. See below.
More experimenting in softer shadow light. Still lots of blacked out areas in the shade.

Very nice. Love the mystery. Reminds me of Susan Burnstine.

Very evocative, John. It really does give the impression of a scent rising from the blooms.

Well thank you, Arlen and Eric. I think that is the most important element of a  photograph- to convey something. Jay Maisel said, if your images don't convey something for you, why should they for anyone else. The light was harsh, so I decided to experiment even more. Camera movement can and usually does soften colours and contrast.

I wish someone would do a video of you photographing, John.
I suspect your movements through long exposures would be an interesting dance.   ;)

Thank you Eric and Bob. I take out Club members on outing/workshops, but not not everyone like these types of shots.  Most give up if they don't get good results right away. Also, many just want "prize winning shots", rather than pursue what really interests them. So nowadays,  I just try to help them with whatever they like.
