#2: *Stranger From The Depths:)

-Dave-

*The title of the novel that got young me hooked on science fiction. It’s been out of print for ages. Found a used hardcover version a few years ago and discovered the version I’d read multiple times as a kid had been significantly abridged. The longer version is also a richer one and holds up really well!)

This is not bad for LG phone image. cropped with bw conversion. Despite being recognizable, I think it has an abstract quality to it.

Thanks! They are funny to shoot but it took several attempts to get the timing and shutter speed right and I still couldn't get it entirely as I wanted.

A couple of days ago, I was working in my garden when I happen to notice how the sun was shining through the swiss chard leaves. Seemed like a good idea to take a few photos and here's what I got.

I think the first is very strong. Well placed lines and good balance between the strong reds and greens. The shadow areas in general are problematic. They are very strong at expense of other elements. I took some like this and discovered shadow areas do not work well with the bold graphic colours and strong light. They were hard to place in the picture space and still make the image work.

Thanks John. I appreciate your comments, and have to add that I exaggerated the light-dark contrast purposefully via dodges and burns, perhaps to the detriment of the photo. I'll reconsider on future shots of this sort.

Started carrying my point and shoot camera in the car and managed get this image. But I missed the rainbow. Nowhere to pull the car aside. You can crop these in the camera or in PP until the cows come home. Great visual exercise.

+1.

Of course, you could also price a rainbow at B&H to carry in your gadget bag when needed.   ;D

Thanks. Soon as I can afford it, many of these are going on my wall.

Armand mentioned the colours were not great this year- so true. You need cool nights as well as short days, and it was rather warm most of late September and most of October. 2012 was the best I have seen in quite a while. Here is one from that time, on the surreal side.
