I can't tether iq280 via firewire-thundebolt adapter to my RMBP. neither Capture One nor LR can recognize the camera. LR can't recognize the iq280 even connecting with USB cable. any comment please?

I found this article that's suggests you set the IQ to charging while plugged in because of a power difference between the FireWire and thunderbolt connections.

I also found that if you are using Mavericks OS, you need to turn off App Nap.
