Plagiarized Photography Portfolios are Now Just One Click Away…

From the article:

Quote
You know, it used to be even photography thieves had to put some work in if they wanted to get a bit of dishonest business, but a new project by the name of Pro-folio shows that just a little bit of code can make stealing photos and creating a whole fake portfolio a one-click affair.

So THAT's where all those direct links to the photos on my webs are going! Not long ago I started playing with C# again, and built a webalizer that, among many other things, tells me when somebody's linking directly to a picture without going through the site URL(s) to get to it. Fascinating. Only one problem I can see: If a thief gets a job on the basis of my photographs, how does he plan to do work that good? ;D He may have to practice up a bit. :-\

The thief gets a job based on proper photographs, the client falls for it, butsoon learns the awful truth and then calls a real photographer to do a cheap re-shoot because they've no money left.  ;) ;D

IMHO, unless web providers are made to enforce copyright, the net is going to eat itself for lunch..

Too bad. There goes my future livelihood, since they took the project down before I could order a portfolio in one of my pen names ("Ansel Adams" for example).  :(
