i1 Display Pro not recognized on Mac
« on: January 09, 2014, 10:54:07 pm »

I installed the i1 Profiler software, restarted the MacPro (and the same on a MacBook Pro) and ran the app.  The device is not recognized on either machine.  Keeps telling me to plug the device into a USB port.  I tried several different USB ports to no avail - and rebooted the machines with the same results.

It shows up on the computer under About this Mac under the USB section as an i1Display3

Any ideas?

Mavericks perhaps? I'm seeing the same issue. It's X-rite's XRD again, biggest POS ever. What's odd is my iSis is detected, but the i1Display pro isn't. X-rite should know about it, I sent them an email last week. This XRD protocol of theirs is a disaster. It's always breaking.

Just read the reference to that XRD - downloaded and installed and I'm getting a connection now.

What version of Mac OS? What version of XRD? The last one I downloaded a week ago didn't work.

OS-X 10.9.1 and XRD - 2.3.2.  Downloaded, installed and i1 saw the device right away.  Went through both a Basic and Advanced calibration and results were practically identical.

X-Rite says that the 2.3.2 is a 'dot' release to ensure compatibility with Mavericks.  Here's the link: http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=1397&Action=support&SupportID=5727

Latest version of i1Profiler and OS X 10.9.1.

On my mid 2010 MBP it works flawless.
On a mid 2012 MBPr is recognized from the system but i1Profiler doesn't: can't profile the display.

Mike, I had the same problem yesterday on 10.9.1. i1Profiler isn't smart enough to automatically download the latest XRD XRite Deivce Services that you need. If you goto XRite Downloads page you'll find it under "X-Rite Device Services XRD" - not i1Profiler or i1 Display Pro. Confusing huh? But it will work fine with XRD 2.3.2. They are working on making i1Profiler smarter about this in the next release.

Bingo! Same issue here with me and another associate with a new MBP. Again, it's this stupid XRD protocols that X-rite has spent undue time and money building that serves us no benefit and continuously causes issues.

I just calibrated a mid2012rMBP display 30 seconds ago on 10.9.1 with the latest XRD and i1P. Calibrated a 2013 rMBP and some iMacs yesterday on 10.9.1.

Something else is going on, probably machine specific.

I downloaded the 2.3.2 version of the XRD and everything is working nicely now.  Profiled the Cinema Display on my MacBook and my Eizo on the MacPro.  Looking good!

The two of us having issues are running Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013 models. I'll try downloading the latest Mavrick's XRD again. Odd that the iSis is fine. I should also check the Rev of the i1D-2. Mine's got to be a Rev A although I don’t know for a fact there's anything later than that.

Did a clean install of i1P 1.5, then the XRD 2.3.2, then set popup menu to select i1Display-Pro as default device, now it's seen.

Still, what a freakin mess this all is, just to see a USB device.

Glad you got it figured out too! I agree - XRD is silly.
