Best value performing calibration
« on: January 08, 2014, 04:51:13 am »

What is todays best performing, value calibrator? Spyder 3?
(what about alternatives such as Heuy meu101, meu 113?) How will they compare to more recent offerings from xrite, spyder?

I have two laptop screen types, basic calibration. Perhaps in conjunction with argyll, dispccalgui.

X-Rite ColorMunki Display + ArgyllCMS + DispcalGUI. It's more accurate than Spyder 3/4 (not to mention cheaper solutions)

On the other hand I'd consider X-Rite i1Display Pro - it's faster, it has very nice i1Profiler, and it's compatible with NEC Spectraview / EIZO ColorNavigator profilers.

My personal experience tells me to stay away from DataColor products.

Unless you also want to profile printers, get the i1Display Pro colorimeter. Currently the best price/performance ratio.
If you need printers, then use the ColorMunki spectrometer.

What afx said and the 2nd part from Czornyj assuming price isn't a major issue.

For some people the best value is the device that does a really good calibration for the lowest price. For others the best value is the device that is forward thinking and will work with a larger variety of applications long into the future. The Spyder fits well for the former and the i1Display Pro for the later.
