You've nasty haloes around the two distant lumps on the centre-left, and I think you really need to get rid of the bright light in the centre which draws all the attention. Other than that (!), I like it. It's very dramatic. Did it really need HDR?

Jeremy, thanks a lot for your comment. I was experimenting with the auto-bracketing function of my camera and wanted more detail in the sky which looked rather bland. I also tried my best to make it look natural rather than HDR. How much of that did I achieve?

Soften the halos and clone out the light and I think you've got it. The sky is nice and it doesn't scream "HDR."

You certainly avoided a bland sky! It doesn't look HDR at all, which is why I asked if it was necessary. Eric and I are in agreement.

Nice image with lots of interest. I am also not sure about the need for HDR; I think a GND filter in the field, or later in LR, would be sufficient to work on the sky.

I am a newbie with HDR and am using Nik software, and have run into the halo problem as well. I have decided to give graduated neutral density filters a try. I do like your image a lot, great sky. Strange pseudo-solarized sun you have - I am not sure whether I like it.

Hi Nancy, I can see if the light in the middle is distracting to you. It's not the sun. It was a ship passing by. This image was also edited in Nik btw.
