After the Ice Storm
« on: December 29, 2013, 10:12:47 am »

As many of you have read/seen in the news, we've had quite the ice storm here in parts of southern Ontario (as well as Quebec, New Brunswick and parts of the US). I feel for those who are still without power a week later. It will be a Christmas to remember.

On the other hand, it has been a wonderful few days for photography, especially after a dusting of fine snow and when a glimmer of sunshine breaks through the cloud. Here are two...

Note: What may appear as "blown out highlights" in the jpegs are actually pegging at 98 to 99% in LR and print fine.

Hmmmm.... I didn't notice you in my back yard!! ;D

The ice is FINALLY dropping off the lines but there are  still waaay too many trees hanging over the lines with ice still on  the branches just waiting for the next storm to come in tonite!... 6 - 10 inches with a nice layer of ice to top it off.

In Ellsworth area of Maine, our power was out for an hour or so (others just got theirs back)  but the cable just came back on after almost a week.
Luckily, I have a generator at the house.

Tired of winter already.

Terry,

I love the first shot but a bit bothered by the darks in upper right hand corner. Could they be lightened a bit so your eye is not drawn there?

I really like the first one, I've been working on shots full of detail like this. I don't care if it seems a bit over-exposed - in those conditions I think this treatment suits the scene.

I'm glad a good photographer like Terry got this ice storm. It missed me in eastern Massachusetts, although northern New England got buried.
The first one is also my favorite.

1 is good but I like 2 for organizing chaos by finding structure and using colours.

Nice images, Terry
I was without power and heat for two days, so when I got finally out with my camera, I saw everything in Bacardi colours.
