Quality 81/2 X 11.inch printer needed?
« on: December 26, 2013, 06:23:49 pm »

My Epson R-3000 ,has gone to the profile in the sky-
Need the above, until I decide on something to replace it with.
Don't want scanner
Don't want Fax.
Just something that will give me high quality ,small prints

Happy Holidays to All,
Mike

Depending on the quantity and expected quality of prints why not consider outsourcing until you have time to make a purchase decision, might be cheaper and less work.

An excellent R3000 replacement might be the next step up in print size to 17 inch so an Epson 3880 would be a logical choice given the reliability of this printer.

Brian,
Thanks for your reply.
Right now,I need something small,in a Epson or Canon

The Epson 3880 might be too large for my desktop setup.,the 3000 just barely fit.,so..?

It might be helpful to know what type of media handling capabilities you require. Just photo paper? Fine art paper as well? Are you selling these prints or is it simply for personal use? Need a way to gauge quality and usability requirements... What type of work do you normally print? For photo paper, the Canon Pro-1 (13" wide) has quite an impressive ink set.

pro 3880 27"x 15" x 10" (W x D x H)

If you compare the cost per ml the 3880 carts are almost half the price of the 3000 inks.
3000 $1.20 per ml
3880 .65 per ml

I'm beginning to lean toward the 3880,especially the size reduction
The ink on the 3000 was killing me
I'll take a closer look,

Many thanks

+1 for the 3880. I think your research will show that it's one of the most reliable and consistent smaller format printers.

And remember the 3880 ships with full 80 ml cartridges. A lot of the intial cost is in the extra ink that comes with it.
