I firmly believe that my 4900 clogs are due to humidity levels.  Yesterday the humidity was 29% - about two hours north of Toronto.  The humidifier I have is just a small Home Depot model.  I need something better/bigger.

I bought one of these.  They modify a humidifier with a self filling mechanism.  I change the wicks every 3-4 months, add a little bactericide every few days, and my room stays at a constant 45% humidity.  I suppose I could have added my own fill mechanism, but this was quick and easy and works great.

I'll chime in to say that I've owned the 7900 for almost three years and have an overall favorable view of the machine. My use is sporadic as it often sits for weeks to a couple or more months without being turned on and used. Clogging does happen but the normal clean cycle will quickly take care of it. I've little to no luck with cleaning color pairs so I just do the normal clean. Prints are beautiful.
