Best way to stretch and pull?
« on: December 19, 2013, 03:02:19 pm »

I have an image featuring a tree and a rock (see below—it will look better than it sounds!) and they are vertically in line with each other. I want to "pull" the tree to the left and "push" the rock to the right without distorting them.

What is the best PS tool to use? I suspect I may have to replace some of background?

When I do the "final" image, I will use content aware scaling to make the lower rock much bigger.

Puppet warp in PS is what comes to mind, but I don't know it well enough to say how well it would work for you.

If you are going to make the rock bigger, you may as well select a triangle in the lower right corner (including the entire rock), activate the Edit, Transform, Distort and pull the right edge to the right. This won't move the left edge of the rock, but by making it bigger and pulling the right edge to the right, you may achieve the desired effect. You could do the same thing with the tree and pulling its left edge to the left.

It may be faster to reshoot from a position more to the left. ;)

Cheers,
