Anyway, I'm going to be away for a week and a half and purchased some of AmericanInket's cleaning fluid.
Personally I think that’s way to short of a period of time to be worrying about it  I leave my 9900 off for 2 to 3 weeks at a time often, and rarely takes more than a couple of channel cleanings.  Once you start putting fluid onto things like the capping station, capillary action can pull that fluid back into the heads and suddenly you have missing nozzles (not clogs).  So you have to run cleaning cycles anyway.

I realize you see this a prevention, but I think you have more of a chance of creating problems than avoiding them if you’re talking about 10 days or so.

Good point Wayne.  And I've decided to purchase the extended warranty (1 year is up in January) so I guess I shouldn't worry.  Still, like I said before, it's not the cost so much as the down-time if I run into anything major.
