Tronix has introduced the Speedfire:, an AC power source for small battery powered flashes. You can read about here:

One BIG caveat: small flashes are not designed for this kind of rapid heavy duty work like dozens of full power flashes at 1 second intevals, especially over prolonged periods of time. It can rapidly burn out your speedlight / speedlite and in the case of the Canon 580 EX II lead to internal arcing, between the flashtube and the mylar reflector - through the ozone that builds up inside of the very well sealed head.
