Show me your Selfie
« on: December 13, 2013, 02:33:14 pm »

According to Urban Dictionary
Quote
A picture taken of yourself that is planned to be uploaded to Facebook, Myspace or any other sort of social networking website. You can usually see the person's arm holding out the camera in which case you can clearly tell that this person does not have any friends to take pictures of them so they resort to Myspace to find internet friends and post pictures of themselves, taken by themselves. A selfie is usually accompanied by a kissy face or the individual looking in a direction that is not towards the camera.

According to the Oxford Dictionary
Quote
a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website:

According to Wikipedia
Quote
A selfie is a type of self-portrait photograph, typically taken with a hand-held digital camera or camera phone, and are usually taken in a slightly tilted manner. Selfies are often associated with social networking. ...

I think it would be fun to see some good selfies of our LuLa community.  Here is one of me in my picture-takin' hat.  I prefer selfies without sunglasses because we all know that eyes are the window to your soul, and I like to see into people's souls.

What toxic shock!!  Photographers should never be seen — most of all in selfies.

how does the proverb go..."do unto others as you would have them..." blah blah. Photographers who hide behind the camera are wusses.

Photographers who hide behind the camera are wusses.

Photographers who inflict their countenance upon others are either devoid of good grace and courtesy or rabid ego-centrics.

Does this count?  Note that I've partially obscured my face, for the sake of the women and children as well as to be polite.

Addendum:  the gut bulge is due to a lens flaw. Ahem.

All of the shots posted are cool in abstract ways, but this one is the most obviously a selfie and at the same time very creative and engaging.

Are you referring to the pincussion distortion?

That is a very interesting distortion of reality.  Great work! What are you actually taking a picture into??? a wet car or something?
