ClearShield Type C
« on: December 12, 2013, 06:09:44 pm »

Hi all,

I just received a sample kit of ClearShield Type C coating, containing a small bottle of gloss and another of satin. The instructions say to apply two thin coats.

The instructions for the sample kit of ECO Print Shield I tried last week recommended three thin coats. However, they tell you to always use gloss for the first two, and then choose the one you want for the final finish as the third coat. According to ECO, if you use satin or matte for all three coats, it will be hazy, not clear.

Is it the same deal with the ClearShield Type C? For a satin finish, do I use one coat of gloss and finish with a coat of satin, or do I apply two coats of satin? Can I mix the two together, to get a finish that's somewhere between the two?

Also, any general advice/comments regarding Type C versus other protective coatings would be appreciated. In case it matters, I'm using it/them with Canson MuseumArt Canvas 340, printed on an Epson 3880.

Thanks!

Steve
