Snow in Yosemite
« on: December 07, 2013, 08:14:55 pm »

Yosemite Valley has a nice blanket of snow.  Here is the Merced River Canyon just to the west this AM.

On Sunday night I was playing with the moonlight on the Merced River in Yosemite Valley.  Today should be quite warm so get the hoar frost while you can.  This is not my favorite pic but here it goes.

No but I'll blame it on my cold fingers.  No gloves!  Yes, it is a bit yellow.  No, I'm no Michael Frye when it comes to night photography - well photography in general. When there is snow in the Valley and a full moon, everything just glows!  Hope you can experience it someday.

Here is one of my favorite snow in Yosemite photographs.  This was taken in the Fall of 2012.

I think you are trying to make it too neutral now. Even if it indeed looked like that (neutral) I think that we might like seeing it a bit on the bluish side, as we psychologically  associate it with night.

Yes, better, but not "night". Either way, great to see the snow in such form at one of my favorite places.

nice! I've been going up around 10PM to arrive at 5:00AM when I hear there's a storm... one such morning recently I did that only to discover the storm cleared by the time I got there : (

Graham,
Think snow!  Not much on the horizon - so much for skiing.  Sounds like you have a great system of coming up to the mountains.  I'm sure I'll run into you at some point in person.  Happy Holidays!
