Hasselblad 503cw 3200 iso version0 how do you determine
« on: December 02, 2013, 01:59:40 pm »

I am in the market for a Hasselblad 503cw and it seems the most recent version of this body has a maximum ISO setting of 3200, that is higher than older versions.

When this is not included in the advertisement (or the seller isn't forthcoming), is there otherwise a way to know, such as the date when this was started (I know from the serial # you can determine dat constructed).

In particular, is the Millenium version necessarily a 3200 or is this mixed?

thanks very much

theres a small selector 'wheel' on the left side of the body, where you can "set" the ISO(this is only for TTL flash, FYI)

if you see a 3200, you have a 3200 body, so on and so forth...

thanks very much.   I'm aware of this dial.  The question is what to do if you see one advertised and the info on ISO capability is not included, and you might want to make a decision before the seller gets back to you. Often the serial # is included in the advertisement even when the ISO is not.

thanks again very much

My sources indicate the dial was changed in 1998, production was from 1996, however they also state that Millenniums (obviously from 2000) are seen with both dials (not at the same time!!).
As an earlier model could be sent in for the "upgrade" , which may have been done for some millenniums, the 1998 date is suspect. Of course the factory may have made millenniums in both varieties.

Bottom line the higher iso dial is not a reliable indicator of age and its presence could indicate an older body updated.

If you are adamant you need the 3200 I would suggest asking is the only sure way, it's not as if they need to take it apart to tell you.

I looked up the manuals and the new type circuit board was used from 19ER18271 in 1998 so you should be safe to buy one with a later serial number than this.  ;D
