Glasgow Necropolis
« on: November 26, 2013, 09:19:16 am »

A large cemetery in Glasgow, Scotland which over looks the eastern end of the city. Burials finished a few years ago so there aren't  any problems about grieving relatives or friends. Indeed it is now a tourist attraction. Some graves are about two centuries old and they are mostly the "finest citizens" of Scotland.

Thank you stamper; proves yet again (were proof needed) that there was indeed a Golden Age long-gone, even in Glasgow.

Well captured, beautiful sky with a good subject and that couple just in the right place. It's a winner.

That's no couple; that's a pair of photographers' angels.

I agree the image has the values others already pointed out.

My nitpick: the white balance is neither here, nor there, resulting in patches of (presumably) blue sky turning puke-ish green. Either warm it up or cool it down a notch.

Don't be silly, Chris; everybody and his dog knows that angels only have wings in church but never in the outside environment, especially never anywhere near Duke Street. Or probably anywhere north or north-east of the river. Nor too far west, come to think of it.

The zombies live elsewhere, in the middle of nowhere, Kilmarnock, and never hold hands; that's a well-established fact too, despite Hollywood's blatant fibs. If they held hands, you might mistake them for angels and that would never do. Unite wouldn't allow it, anyway.

Thanks for the replies. When the couple moved into the scene in front of me and started to walk between the tombstones I silently cursed and then quickly realised the potential and captured a few frames and this was the best placing of them. Slobodan as to WB a sunset then it is difficult imo because of different light sources. At the background of this image the City of Glasgow lies with it's different light sources projected into the sky which is why I stood at the back of the necropolis to avoid the clutter and the light contamination. It was difficult to try and bet a "believable" sky.
