Epson 4900 black ink selection
« on: November 26, 2013, 07:37:00 am »

OK so I have watched the LR4 tutorials and not found the answer there or on any forum so here goes:
I am using LR5 & Epson 4900, I set the printer to Matte Black as I am printing on Hahnemuhle MattPhoto Rag and have imported the profiles into LR5. The printer driver is updated. When I go into "Printer" in LR5 I go to the ink option, I can see Photo Black although Matte Black is greyed out and I can't switch inks. I have spent hours trying to figure it out, can anyone tell me why it's greyed out and how I can switch to Matt Black please?

Just a guess, but wouldn't this be something you would change in the printer driver and not in Lightroom?

did you read the Handling Instructions .pdf that came w/ the profile?

In LR, you select the Hahn. profile.  Then, when the printer driver window pops up, you select Epson Velvet Fine Art.  That will tell the printer to use MK instead of PK.

Yes I did see the velvet fine art setting but the drop down tabs for Page Set-Up and Media Type don't respond.

I see you have a mac. I use lr and e4900 on windows7. The only time i cannot select matte black is whe  i have selected a media type that does not support matte black. Example gloss paper.

When using my 3880, you have to select manual rear feed for mat black to work
