Are you planning to enhance it and save as a keeper? If it was mine it would be kept as it is and saved as a nice " snapshot " but not one of my "keepers"

I do not generally edit images with the idea of keeping, printing of whatsoever behind it.
Its a specific interest which sometimes I cannot define myself, but most of the time I can.
I usually try not to talk too much about the images I present here.
If for you its a snapshot thats okay with me.

You have imo recorded the scene that to my eyes doesn't have any obvious artistic content. You asked for a critique and there isn't anything that is obvious to comment on other than a snapshot of the scene?

I don't hink in terms of "Is it artistic" when I work on an image.

In the image above there were several elements that interested me,
e.g. its a pretty empty space. Storm is coming. People have left except those two remaining.
There is a rhythm of vertical structures. The light has a specific quality.
I tried to capture an impression of that little plaza before the incoming thunderstorm.
In the same moment its a sort of composition study.
The image was not meant to be spectacular, its just a situation that interested me.
Basically I am exploring a sort of style or way with the images I posted today which is not what I usually try.

Last week hung up 5 large prints in my office, each 24" wide with landscape images I really liked and which also have received good critiques here. A friend of mine thanked me a couple of times when I showed him the prints.
But this is something completely different.

There is a situation or short story and atmosphere, or a compositional or color related question - and I am working on that.
I am not going for the strong effect here.
I myself do not know yet where this might lead to - or not ... :P

Edit: On a second thought - maybe I should have posted them in the "Without predjudice" thread - but I'll leave it for now as it is.

You did ask for an opinion? Images here tend to get judged by what others post and the most successful tend to have something unusual about them or an "artistic" - subjective - rendering? Someone once said that if you have to explain what your image is about then it isn't "working". This is a tough forum to succeed in and an image has to be "different" to get praise.  :)

Maybe you were seeing in infrared.  That is the imitation filter I clicked on in PS.

I like your conversion - a sort of "infrareddish" feeling definitely was a part of my impression.
But I decided not to push the image too much into an overly dramatic direction.
I might rework it with a B/W conversion supplying the luminosity part of it.

Okay - here's the "IR touched" version.

I like the way the light gradually changes across the almost empty scene as the storm approaches. For me it captures nicely the feeling of an atmospheric moment.
That, and the fact that there is nothing that seriously distracts from that feeling, makes it a satisfying image for me.

Does that make it "artistic?" I don't really care one way or the other. If it were mine, I'd be likely to print it and put it up on a wall somewhere for a while to see if it continued to appeal.

I see an "improvement" in the latter rendering. The first effort was a little flat hence my query about if you had enhanced it. I wouldn't consider it a wall hanging subject though. :)
