Hi,

I am just in the process of posting some images I shot previous weekend. The images are processed, pretty much to my liking. They are shown as high quality JPEGs, downscaled to fit 4000x4000. Some are Sony Alpha 99 and some are Hasselblad V + P45+. These images are not comparison images, I was just shooting with both cameras. White balance may differ, and as I said processing is to taste.

Questions:

Do you see the MFD look?
Can you say which is which?

Raw files are here: http://echophoto.dnsalias.net/ekr/Articles/MFDJourney/RawImages/RealWorld/rawfiles.html

Between number 3 and number 7, it was instantly to me which had more accutance and sharpness. Number 7 of course, which happens to be the P45 file. I don't know about the rest because my eyes are very tired. It is 2:27 am in Tulum.
Thanks for the effort. I wish I could not see the difference, but this time it is obvious. P45 wins hands down.
Have a nice weekend.

Hi,

Thanks for posting a response. Just to say, 3 and 7 were not comparison images, they were shot with different focal lengths at different times. But I agree they are comparable.

Here a some crops (taken from the posted images at 1:1), Sony Alpha 99 on top and P45+ below. Or click here for a side by side view: http://echophoto.dnsalias.net/ekr/Articles/MFDJourney/RawImages/RealWorld/Crops/image37.html

Best regards

Nice subject.

Do you intend to keep carrying around 2 systems?  ;)

Cheers,
Bernard

Hi,

Yes I do, but not for long walks. I have a Gura Gear Kiboko. Hassy fits comfortable in left flap with four lenses. Sony Alpha 99, 24-70/2.8 and 70-400/4-5.6 goes into right flap. Quite workable, albeit heavy. Add to that an ultra light CF tripod from RRS with a leveling bowl and an Arca Swiss D4 to make it heavy.

I went on four hour hike in the Dolomites, than I left Hassy stuff where I lived and just took two Sony's and four lenses.

Best regards
Erik
