What differentiates Credo 80 from IQ280?
« on: October 17, 2013, 01:40:43 pm »

What is the difference between Credo 80 from IQ280?

I know that the specifications are only the starting point, but from the fleeting view at them for both digital backs, I see very little: the Credo sensor is only 0.1 mm lower, it has a 0.5 f-stops smaller dynamic range and active pixels slightly differ.

Shutter speeds: the same. ISO sensitivity: the same. Pixel size: the same. Exposure times: the same. Full-resolution capture rates: the same.

But is there something beneath the technical data that makes one better than the other, even if only slightly?

Pixel size and sensor size are identical. Anything listing them differently is a result of errant rounding or a typo.

In my experience 0.5 stops improvement in DR is a slight marketing exaggeration. It is improved, but more like 0.3 stops or so. Perhaps the improvement will be greater as the firmware is tweaked.
