Godrevy Lighthouse
« on: October 13, 2013, 10:22:58 am »

I am totally unable to choose between 3 images of the same place just East of St Ives in Cornwall England. I was lucky enough to be camping on the beach when nature decided to put on a sunset light show. I usually produce high contrast, saturated and low key landscapes and don't really know how to handle high key. I am just delighted that they look as good as they do but this could be because I don't get to see such images in high res on my wide gamut monitor. So what do people think? and how can I improve them? My thoughts always go for darken, harden, increase saturation but this would probably destroy any fragile beauty that the images may have. My personal preference is for 7818 then 7888 and lastly 7880 but the last has more "mood". So C &C needed.

Any image can be massaged into something else, but not every image needs it. None of the above seems to need it either.

If you insist on C&C, then the second image might benefit from a slight, well feathered, vignetting.

Quite pleasing tonality in all if them.

Ken,

You are a fortunate man, three solid keepers.

I rate as you do !

I prefer the broad tonal range of the first, but the 3 are very close.

All jolly good, but I prefer the third.

#2 for me. In #1, the lighthouse is so small, and the rest of the frame is mostly empty space, I just get lost.

Third one for me. I like the soft colors. The other two photos are also superb.
