wiper blade
« on: October 07, 2013, 01:13:10 pm »

Does anyone know if the wiper for the Epson 9900 is the same for an 11880?
I have 2 blades for the 9900 that I don't have anymore and now have the 11880.
Would be nice to know they would fit.
Thanks for any help.

wiper replacement in 11880 isn't quite as straight forward as the 9900.  They do not use the same part.

Thanks, Wayne.. I figured I couldn't be THAT lucky!

Here's a little question for you...
Have you ever had your printer just not put ANY ink out even tho it is going thru the motions?
I had printed a couple of days ago and no problem. Today, I turned it on and threw a file to it and... nothing.

After shaking chicken bones at it as well as turning it off and then back on and still nothing, I did a power clean and all is well again, It is now printing fully. A nozzle check shows no blanks or anything.

Weird, for sure.

Your printer just went through a self calibration procedure! (Sometimes happens after a paper skew)
Let it complete in it's own time with no interruption, and all will be good again  ;-)

Ralph,
I would be interested in purchasing one of them.
Send me an email through my web site.

I don't think so. It acted exactly as tho it was printing including the head moving back and forth across the paper and the paper advancing as if it was being printed upon and then when the file was done, it advanced the paper and cut it off.

Everything acted like it should except that NO ink was being laid down.

In all my years, i've never seen that happen.

Yes, a calibration is obvious because the head moves back and forth the full width of the carriage (which it doesn't do when printing unless you are using full width paper), and paper doesn't advance.  When done it then just starts printing again.

Any chance you soaked the head with distilled water or windex because of some problems?  This often will cause what you describe, as capillary action will pull the water/liquid back into the head, so you are printing with clear liquid.

other than that, I've never seen that either.  Usually at least a few spots of ink.  Strange, glad it is back to normal.

And hopefully wont see again ;)

Could have just been a freak spooler glitch
are you printing from a RIP or Qimage?

I think I had that happen once when my C drive ran out of space, printing through the normal Windows print spooler.

No, never cleaned it, so that's not it.

Printing from PS as usual on a Mac.

Ahhh, the joys of modern technology!!  ::)
