Custom Aspect Ratios
« on: October 05, 2013, 08:53:10 pm »

As we all know LR allows us to enter custom aspect ratios. However how can we get it to distinguish between (for example) 3x2 and 2x3? In my mind one is a portrait ratio and the other landscape. However LR gives me the same landscape crop for both of these rations. Am I doing something wrong or is this just one of those endearing little eccentricities of the code?

Alistair,

Use the "x" key to flip between landscape and portrait modes.

Or if you do not like keyboard shortcuts, or forgot which one it is, grab a corner of the crop and rotate it. The crop will snap into the new position.

Aha, you are not giving due consideration to the cleverness (sneakiness?) of the LR designers. No matter what order the numbers are in, the crop box will always open initially in the same orientation as the original. If you, for some daft reason known only to yourself, want to flip it, you are at liberty to do so.
