Batch scanning medium format negatives/positives.
« on: October 05, 2013, 03:45:20 pm »

I'm trying to find the fastest way to scan large amounts of medium format negatives, -involving the least effort. I had an idea I could get a light pad and use that to back light most of a flat bed scanner and scan 10-15 645 negatives at once. The scanner would scan as a document at the highest dpi and then I would invert and crop the results. I realize that the image quality would be terrible, but I just something to tell me if the image should be drum scanned.
Is this worth trying? Is there something better out there?
Thanks in advance,
John

You may have a look at the Epson V700/V750. Very good price/performance rating and is able to scan 2 x 4 slides (6 x 6 cm) in a row. All of this for less than 1000 $. I use this scanner for a 2 years now and i'am very satisfied with the results. I also got the Nikon 9000 ED meanwhile. Yes the Nikon got more resolution, but if you don't need the resolution the Epson scanner is a good option for you.

Best regards
