Shutter Speeds Rollei PQS lenses
« on: October 04, 2013, 06:41:56 pm »

I have a number of manual Rollei PQS lenses.

Some of them seem to be able to go to shutter speeds of 1/1000, others only to 1/500.

No big deal, just trying to understand why some do and others don't.  I thought PQS lenses always had the ability to go to 1/1000 of a second.

I have a Hy6 body.

Thanks, Joris.

Hi Joris,
Yes, this is true.... some of the manual focus PQS lenses will not reach 1/1000 with the Hy6, but the solution is to clip a resistor or diode on the circuit board of the lens.  Depending on the lens it can be easy or hard to reach. I'll dig up the information and post this to my blog next week sometime.  Naturally, DHW can of course do this service for you.

Regards,
Eric

Thanks Eric!

Of the lenses that I own the Zeiss Sonnar 150mm/f4 PQS seems to reach 1/1000 but the Schneider Apo-Symmar 90mm/f4 PQS and the Zeiss Planar 80mm/f2.8 PQS do not.

Regards, Joris.

In my vast collection - its the 90mm APO and the 80.   I did find my e-mails with the factory about this and posted the fix to my blog.  I haven't done mine yet.

I had my 90mm Apo Symmar fixed by DHW and it works perfectly on the Hy6 - worth doing as it is used handheld on certain jobs and the fast shutter speed really helps!
