Bring Canon 6100 Back to Life?
« on: September 29, 2013, 12:07:58 pm »

Hello all. I have a Canon IPF 6100 that has been in storage for 2 years due to a home renovation.
What is the best process to follow to attempt to bring it back to life?
I did not have any print head clogging or other issues with it before it was stored.
I'm hoping it can be restored.

Many thanks for any help!

I have a 6100 but cannot give you any advice because I simply have not shut it down for longer than 2 weeks.
However, you may find this forum much more helpful - I lurk and learn a ton from their wiki and if your question has not been asked, there are people on that forum that will likely give you some advice.

Len, I would first remove each ink cart and invert 6-8 times gently (don't shake), then simply power up and let the machine go through its self-cleaning routine and see if you get any error messages. If not, print up a nozzle check and try a test print.

If you get a printhead error message, I wouldn't try to force printing as you might draw too much current through the controller board and blow it.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check the wiki and also try the process suggested.
