Thanks for all the comments. Sorry a couple of you get a bit testy with each other. This is photography, not often a life & death matter or anything to get miffed over. Most of us (at least me) are amateurs and do this for fun and enjoyment.

I'll likely continue as I have, working in LR, bringing the color image into PS CS6, adding a SFX smart filter layer, going through the SFX adjustments, then using my usual PS layers and masks until I'm happy.

I guess some of the professionals see photography in a similar vein.

But I am with you - the vast majority of us are amateurs who look down our noses at those who prostitute their art for filthy lucre (and get over serious on this wee chat-room).
