Nirvana
« on: September 26, 2013, 11:25:24 am »

I call this the Nirvana tree because it's probably the most popular and most photographed tree in the Pacific Northwest. It's like the late Kurt Cobain of the Grunge Rock Band NIRVANA from the same area :)

I think I'll come back here in next month when the colors change in the Fall.

Love the colors. Wonderful image. Where is this tree? I have been to the PNW but have missed it.

Thank you, Praki. This is in Portland's Japanese Garden...not too far from downtown.

The light is lovely but what draws me to this photo is the tentacular aspect of that tree and the dense foliage.

Thanks man. I shot this around noon. Thank goodness it was a bit cloudy so it just gave me the right amount of light for a noontime shot. I bet this would be kickass if shot with the sun just peeking between the leaves and branches...probably make an awesome sun star. Yeah, I totally agree with you Francois. The branches are like tentacles. There's actually another in the garden that I shot that has branches that are just as impressive but I wouldn't say it's a better tree to photograph. I'll post it soon.
