Camera Bag for X-E1?
« on: September 20, 2013, 07:07:16 am »

Does anyone have any camera bag recommendations for the X-E1?

I'm travelling overseas in next few weeks and I'm taking the X-E1, 18-55, 35 & 14mm lenses but would like something thet can all fit in easily.

Thanks
Martin

Do you want to have one bag for your camera and personal travel stuff? Or just a small camera bag separate from other bags? The Think Tank Retrospective 5 will easily fit the camera and three lenses, and a couple of spare batteries and filters. It won't fit much else. I've been using the TTP City Walker 20 this summer, and it carries my whole Fuji kit (2 bodies 4 lenses) plus it has room for guidebooks, a water bottle, my glasses, an umbrella, etc. That's my preference for travel.

I had my X-Pro1 with 14, 35 & 55-200mm lenses and a spare X100s in a ThinkTank Retrospective 7 bag when traveling through Eastern Tibet. I was looking for the slightly smaller Retrospective 5 first, but the dealer did not have it, so I settled for the bigger one. Which was good for my slightly larger kit. Check the Retrospective 5, it might fit the bill. Does not look too much like a camera bag, nice fabric, nicely detailed, good quality etc etc.

I just bought few days ago this Domke bag to be used with a very similar setup as yours: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/754574-REG/Domke_700_00A_F_10_Medium_Shoulder_Bag.html
It's just for the camera and few small things. Didn't really get to use it but I like that it doesn't look like a camera bag.

I have a Billingham Hadly, where I carry two XE-1's plus 14 and 35mm lenses. The bag also accommodates personal stuff, plus one 13.3 inch netbook on the back comparment.

I have the Think Tank Retrospective 5. It holds the camera with what ever lens I choose, and leaves two pockets on either side for other lenses. This allows me to mount the 18-55 and also have the 14 and 60. The 18-55 is so good I often leave the 35 at home unless I think I'll need a super fast lens for low light. If I do, I can put the 35 in the front pocket.

I also have the Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 20 which I use for hiking. I put it into my Osprey Talon 22 pack and usually take the zoom, 14, and 50. The shoulder strap on the Mirrorless Mover is not terribly good though if you're carrying it alone. Either has plenty of room for spare battery, cleaning gear and cards.

I guess it's goin to be either the Billingham f1.4 or Hadley Pro/Think Tank Retrospective 5.

Hi Martin, I can recommend a great shoulder Lowelpro bag.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/971446-REG/lowepro_lp36572_0ww_photo_sport_shoulder_12l.html

It's great for one small camera with attached lens plus One or two other lenses. Memory Cards and a couple of batteries. Yesterday I was riding in a motorcycle and heavy rain started poring and I thought my cameras was to be dead, to my surprise everything inside was dry.

Hope this helps.

I settled on the Tenba Messenger Mini. Fits my 13" Macbook Air and iPad in a padded pocket along with my fuji X-E1 with 18-55 lens attached, and Zeiss Touit 12mm and 32mm lenses. The zipper top allows easy access while on the go.

Paid $93.95 + $12.12 shipping from ePhotoCraft.com.

I just took my first day trip with it yesterday and wore it all day long. Works great so far.

Cheers.

I have the Tenba Messenger small, and it works great, holds the whole Fuji kit that I have. Well made and easy to access and reasonably priced. Also will hold my tablet and my portable drive for off loading images, the UDMA2.
